Without the dispatchers, the Holliston Fire Department would be lacking direction.  The dispatch office is staffed 24-hours a day by civilian dispatchers who are assigned to work 8 hour shifts.  All dispatchers are at least First Responder certified; most are trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and all are trained as certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers.

The dispatch office is the first point of contact for the public when they are looking to speak to the Fire Chief, schedule an inspection, or request the response of the department.  Calls to 9-1-1 are answered by the Holliston Police Department, requests for fire or EMS responses are then transferred to the Fire Department dispatcher to determine which resources will be dispatched.

Our current dispatch office opened in September 2000, and was a dramatic improvement over our former office; which was crammed in the area shown on the 1930 blueprints of the Central Fire Station as "Battery Storage."   On July 3, 2002, we switched over to our UHF frequency of 470.475 MHz.

Our dispatchers also provide message relay service for both the Animal Inspector and the Animal Control Officer 24 hours a day, and are an after hours point of contact for the Highway and Water Departments.
